What is mentoring exactly?

Mentoring is a professional relationship in which the mentor, provides guidance and advice to the mentee, to help them to achieve their goals. The mentee may seek help with starting a project, growing a project or overcoming specific challenges they face.

Individualised mentoring involves assisting you in developing the skills and knowledge you may need to be successful in your chosen pursuits. The mentor mentee relationship is usually established by the two individuals involved to decide how often they meet and how long the mentorship will last.

Differences between a mentor and a coach.

One of the key differences is that a mentor provides guidance and advice, while a coach helps you to set and achieve your own goals.

A coach will help you to develop the skills and knowledge you need to identify the steps required to reach success, guiding you to create goals and strategic plans.

A mentor may help you to overcome challenges and identify opportunities while building your experience and skillset, offering more experience-based advice and guidance. A mentor can support you to implement the goals and strategies that a coach has supported you to identify.
