Looking Up
Have you ever taken a moment to slow down and tip your head upwards? It can provide you with a momentary change of view and shift your perspective!
A couple of days ago I was waiting for my driver to pick me up and as I sat sipping on the most glorious lemongrass tea, I leant back and looked upwards. This intricately carved roof blew my mind. So much detail, so many changing shapes and so many rivulets winding through the timber. It was a work of art and all hand made. A stunning reminder of the innate creative genius of mankind.
It felt sacred and for those few moments as I paused and sipped my tea I was filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. The beauty of that moment, if I hadn’t looke up I would have completely missed it.
Now, of course I am away in a different place right now and naturally we take more notice when we are away BUT it made me ponder - do I stop and take notice at home? Are there moments that I can sip tea with gratitude and drink in the delight of something that I may otherwise not see.
I am going to make a conscious practice of stopping to notice more in my days moving forward.
Is there a practice of noticing that you could instill into your routine? Could you be sitting underneath or next to something truly special? Beauty is there for us all, we just need to sometimes adjust, turn our gaze and notice it.
